Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 June 2026
Quiet Eulogy helps you write a heartfelt eulogy. Because eulogies contain personal memories about people you love, we keep what we collect minimal, short-lived, and private. This policy explains what we process and your rights under the GDPR (EEA/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California).
1. Who we are
Quiet Eulogy is operated by Quietware (Taiwan). For any privacy question, contact support@quieteulogy.com.
2. What we collect
- The details you enter to write the eulogy: the person's name and nickname, your relationship and your name, life facts, traits, memories, and what they loved.
- Religious preference (optional), if you choose one to shape the eulogy. This is "special category" data under GDPR Art. 9 and is processed only with your explicit consent (you can choose "No"). Selecting a faith-centered tone also reveals this and is treated the same way.
- Email address, at checkout — this is passed to Polar to take payment and send your receipt. We do not store your email in our own database.
- IP address, used transiently for rate-limiting and abuse prevention; it is not linked to your identity.
3. About people who aren't you
Your eulogy describes someone who has died, and may mention others. The GDPR does not protect deceased people as such. For living people mentioned in your memories, we process the text only to generate your eulogy and delete it on a short timer; under GDPR Art. 14(5)(b) individual notice would require disproportionate effort, so we ask that you only enter information you have the right to write about.
4. Why we process it (legal basis)
- Generating your eulogy — performance of our contract with you.
- Rate-limiting and security — our legitimate interests.
- Religious preference — your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)), shown at the point we ask.
- Payment — handled by Polar (an independent controller).
5. How long we keep it
Unpaid drafts are permanently deleted about 2 hours after creation, and paid results about 48 hours after payment; deletion is enforced by a scheduled database job, and once deleted the content is unrecoverable. Your email is held by Polar under Polar's own policy.
6. Who we share it with
- OpenRouter (processor) performs the AI generation and routes the request to a downstream model provider as a sub-processor. We send each request with zero data retention enabled, so the model provider does not retain your content after the request or use it to train AI models.
- Polar (independent controller) processes payment as our Merchant of Record and receives your email and payment details.
- Google Cloud Run (processor) hosts the application (United States).
- Supabase (processor) stores the result subject to the timers above (United States).
- We self-host our fonts and do not use Google Fonts, so your IP is not sent to Google to load fonts.
These providers process data in the United States under their standard data-processing terms and transfer safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, and may lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. Under the CCPA/CPRA you may know, delete, and correct your information, and opt out of sale or sharing — note that we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. How to exercise your rights
Email support@quieteulogy.com. Because we don't store or index your email, please include your result ID (shown to you when your eulogy is generated and saved in your browser) so we can locate the data. Most data also expires on its own within the short retention window above.
9. Cookies & local storage
We use only essential browser local storage to remember your result ID and access key (not the eulogy text) so you can retrieve your result after payment. We use no tracking or advertising cookies and no third-party analytics.
10. Children
Quiet Eulogy is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new date.
